Rules

Opening a cell reveals how many mines are among its eight neighbors. A 0 opens its neighbors in a chain.

Open a mine and you lose; open every non-mine cell and you win. Switch to flag mode to mark cells you suspect.

The center cell and its neighbors never hold a mine, so your first move is never blocked. Everyone gets the same board on the same day.
